Amtgard (Amt) is more than just a sport combat game. There is more variety offered than in any other boffer sport. Weekly participation in games allows you to advance in a class, unlocking levels, and new powers.

Amtgard vs Other Sports
Melee combat is clearly a big attraction of the sport. However, the game is more character focused than most other sports. The unique rules allow players to create a character, choose a class, level up, and gain various abilities. As a result, players can customize their character and fully immerse themselves in the game. Classes like Barbarian or Monk focus on melee fighting. Magic users like Wizards or Healers allow players to affect enemies and allies from a distance.
